Can you tell me more about the retreat itself?
The Parish Retreat is intended to promote Christian community in an interactive way with fellow parishioners in attendance. There will be a number of opportunities on the weekend to examine your relationship with God, yourself and others in your life. Most of all, it is an opportunity to step out of your daily routine to think and discuss those things that matter to you most in an atmosphere that is confidential and lends itself to reflection and renewal. This is unlike some other retreats you may have attended and it is definitely not a silent retreat, but you will return to your daily life refreshed, invigorated and refocused on who God is in your life. All meals (including dinner on Saturday evening) will be provided. The retreat is held on Friday evening from 6:45 pm to 10:00 pm and all day Saturday from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm. The retreatants and team will attend the Saturday Vigil Mass. A letter confirming your registration and providing further details will be sent to you prior to the retreat.
Who are the leaders of the retreat?
The co-leaders of the retreat are Dick and Pat Kerlin who have been St. Faustina parishioners from the start of the parish. They are supported by a team of parishioners who have various roles in the planning and coordination of the retreat. Also, one of the parish priests will be attending the retreat at various times.
Who can attend?
Any adult parishioner 18 years onward who is out of high school. Due to space limitations and in order to allow for more parishioners to participate, attendance is limited to those who have not already attended Parish Retreat #1. Thank you for your understanding.
How can I register?
Registration opens on Thursday, August 22, and will be done online on the St. Faustina parish website at www.saintfaustinachurch.org . Spaces are limited so it is important that you register as soon as possible as it is on a first come, first served basis.
What is the cost to attend the retreat?
The per person cost is $40.00 per person or $35.00 per person for multiple family members. The intention is for each retreat to be self-funding so the total collected from participants will offset the expenses that are incurred. The cost covers all materials needed for the retreat as well as food and drinks for breaks, as well as breakfast snack, and a full lunch and dinner on Saturday.
What if I can’t attend the full retreat?
It is important that you are able to attend the full retreat on both days. The retreat builds throughout the weekend and it doesn’t work well if people are only able to attend parts of it. Since spaces are limited, it is, also, not fair to those who are committed to attend the entire weekend. We recommend that you wait until the next one is offered and you can be available and fully present for the whole experience.
Is child care provided?
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide child care for this retreat.
What if I have additional questions?
There is a form on the retreat page of the parish website in which you can submit questions. Response to any questions submitted will be answered in a timely manner. If you don’t have access to the website, you can call Pat Kerlin at 281-703-8666 or Dick Kerlin at 713-702-2015.
