Small Christian Communities

With the parish growing larger and larger - we want to try and make it smaller, namely through Small Christian Communities. Small Christian Communities are where members of our community get together to live the joy of the Gospel, grow in their faith and prayer, develop lifelong friendships and a stronger sense of community.

These small groups of about 10 adults are the ideal place to welcome a family or parishioner who is new to our community at Saint Faustina, or someone who has been around for a while but is looking to grow deeper in their relationship with the Lord with a solid peer group. 


Small Christian Communities can begin in a variety of ways including with a core program offered by the parish periodically throughout the year. The program is held on campus and generally lasts 5-7 weeks where you will meet fellow parishioners in both large group and small group settings. Following the core program, the team will assist in the formation of Small Chrisitan Communities. Alternatively, we can help you foster the development a small group of your own at work, in your community, or wherever you feel called to build up a Small Chrisitan Community.

As we look forward, we would like to take the call from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for a Eucharistic Revival, and center our Small Christian Communities Fall Program on the Eucharist. 

The US Bishops have designated July through Pentecost as a time to focus on the Parish Revival Process - which includes four key areas: 

• Reinvigorated Worship - Please consider finding time to attend Mass together as an SCC
• Personal Encounters - Consider signing up for an hour of Adoration and designating that as an hour for your SCC to attend.
• Robust Formation - Join us in the study of Lectio: Eucharist from Formed. This ten-week series is incredible and will give you amazing insight on the Biblical Roots of the Eucharist. We will be offering a few sessions on campus beginning in September, but encourage your group to use this as your fall Study. We will be ordering study guides for the program, which will be $10 a guide. Please let us know if you will be joining us in the study of this program, and how many copies you will need for your SCC.

 

• Sending of Missionaries - Our goal will be to learn and go forth to share the Good News about the Eucharist. In addition, we are looking at sending a delegation to the Eucharistic Congress next July in Indianapolis. If you might be interested in this, please contact Brian at blennox@saintfaustinachurch.org. • Is there a cost associated with joining a Small Christian Community? The only cost that will be associated with joining a Small Christian Community is if there are specific materials being used that need to be purchased for study or use.
• What if I cannot make all of the core program sessions? We encourage you to make as many sessions as your schedule allows, but we understand not everyone will be able to attend all the sessions. There will be ways for you to catch up on the weeks you are unable to attend.
• Who should participate? Small Christian Communities are open to adults in our community. SCC's are a great way to bond with fellow parishioners, strengthen your faith, and become part of the St. Faustina Community. 
• Do I have to be Catholic or a parishioner to attend? No. Everyone is welcome to register and attend.
